Whatcoat Social Services

Whatcoat Social Services (Whatcoat) provides emergency shelter service and transitional housing for low-income individuals and families.  Enrollment is open to anyone, but priority is given to homeless individuals and families, victims of domestic violence, and those formerly in foster care. Services include assistance with obtaining employment, housing, continuing education, and increasing income.

Whatcoat also includes the following services:

  • Ruth Dorsey Emergency Homeless Shelter—a 46-bed shelter for men, women, and families for up to 30-day stay.
  • Vera’s Haven Transitional Housing—10 townhomes for households who commit to working and continuing their education for up to two years.
