Domestic Violence Topic of Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware First Friday Films

"Sleeping with the Enemy" will be the next UUSD's First Friday Film on 5/6/16 at 7 pm. The film is being sponsored by the UUSD's Social & Environmental Justice (SEJ) Committee.

Julia Roberts stars in this thriller about a battered wife who is stalked by her abusive husband.  Representatives from People's Place domestic violence programs will lead a discusssion after the movie.  Ceil Payne, who serves on the board of People's Place and is also the author of Dancing in Quicksand, will also participate in the discussion. 

This event is free and open to the public and a potluck dinner will be held starting at 6 pm.  

In addition, the SEJ committe will collect donations for People's Place from Sunday, May 8th to Sunday, May 22nd to help families transitioning out of shelter. Items needed are:

Silverware, serving, and cooking utensils/pots and pans/ toasters/coffee pots/can openers/dish soap/pot holders/baking sheets/colanders/ice cube trays/crockpots/roasters/dish towels/shower curtains, rods, and rings/hand soap/toilet paper/trash baskets/towels (wash cloths and bath towels)*/toilet brush and cleaner/plunger/cleaning products/paper towels/tissues/mops/brooms/buckets/laundry detergent/curtains and curtain rods/trash bags/plastic containers/mixing bowls/lamps and lightbulbs/dryer sheets/hangers/ironing boards/health and beauty products/pillows/blankets/sheets*/flashlights/laundry baskets and hampers.
