Abriendo Puertas Receives Grant Money for Therapist

Peoples Place is honored to announce that Abriendo Puertas, a domestic violence shelter which serves Hispanic survivors and their children, was recently awarded a $19,000 grant from the Arsht-Cannon Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation.  This generous grant money will be used to implement therapeutic and supportive services to both adults and children at the shelter on a weekly basis.  The therapist hired will focus on providing services using a trauma-informed approach to avoid the possibility of re-traumatizing the survivor or child.

The Arsht-Cannon Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation provides funding to non-profit organizations in Delaware serving the Hispanic community.  They have awarded close to $600,000 a year for these programs and each year receive a number of grant requests from a variety of programs to enrich and create opportunities for Hispanic Delawareans.
